California Service Area
USDA-registered ground pet transport across California. We handle everything from short regional hops between LA, SF, and San Diego to cross-country moves out to the East Coast — climate-controlled, with real-time tracking and brachy-breed-aware routing.
California is one of our busiest service areas — and one of the most technical. The state stretches 770 miles end-to-end and covers four distinct climate zones: Mediterranean coast, Central Valley heat, Sierra Nevada elevation, and high desert. A trip from San Diego to Eureka crosses more ecological variation than most cross-country moves. That matters for the animal in the back of the van.
We route around California's summer interior heat (Central Valley and Inland Empire regularly break 105°F in July–September), plan rest stops at vet-accessible exits, and time long-haul departures to leave coastal metros before morning traffic locks down. For brachycephalic breeds — French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers — this isn't optional. California is among the highest-ownership states in the country for flat-faced breeds, and we've built our summer protocol around getting them through I-5 and I-10 safely.
California also hosts a dense military presence — Camp Pendleton, Naval Base San Diego, Travis AFB, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and Fort Irwin all generate consistent PCS demand. PAX honors a 10% military discount, charges no rush fees, and waives date-change fees when orders shift. Base-to-base cross-country moves (Camp Pendleton → Camp Lejeune, Naval Base San Diego → Norfolk) are routes we regularly dispatch.
Typical price ranges for routes we run most often. Every quote is itemized and personalized — these are starting ballparks.
Ranges shown are for standard, healthy adult pets. Brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, Boxers, etc.) and pets with medical needs are quoted case-by-case to reflect the extra care, monitoring, and coordination those trips require.
Dispatch timing varies by route and season — some pickups go out within a few days, others may take up to a week to line up a driver. Either way, we'll get you a driver for whatever move you need. Tell us your timeline on the quote form and we'll give you a realistic window.
The I-5 corridor through the Central Valley and I-10 east from LA regularly break 105°F between June and September. Our drivers run those segments overnight or at dawn, and routes are pre-cleared for vet-accessible exits in case the cabin climate system needs backup.
Flat-faced breeds — French Bulldogs, Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers — are heavily represented in California. Every brachy trip in or out of the state goes through our heat protocol: altitude-limited routing (no Donner Pass in mid-summer), climate-controlled cabins, and a vet-on-call line for the driver.
California hosts Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Army installations with constant PCS rotation. PAX picks up and delivers at base gates, honors a 10% military discount, and charges no rush or date-change fees — because orders shift and service members shouldn't pay for that.
LA-to-SF alone is 380 miles. LA-to-Eureka is 700 miles. We handle intrastate moves in California the same way we handle interstate — full trip coordinator support, live tracking, and proper rest cadence.
We pick up and deliver door-to-door throughout the state. These are just the metros where we run the most trips.

Between 2,000 and 3,000 miles, typically $3,600 to $5,200. Those are ballparks for standard, healthy adult pets. Brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, Boxers) and pets with medical needs are quoted case-by-case to reflect the extra care and coordination required. Both. We pick up and deliver door-to-door throughout California, including rural addresses. LA, SF, San Diego, and Sacramento are our highest-volume metros, but we've done trips to Eureka, Redding, Truckee, and plenty of smaller towns. If your address is in California, enter it in the quote form and we'll confirm availability.
Coast-to-coast typically runs 4–5 days at standard cadence, and we also offer express service when it's the right call for the animal. Faster pacing actually reduces stress for some pets — animals who don't settle into long trip rhythms, or who handle travel better in shorter concentrated stretches. For others (brachy breeds, seniors, and anxious pets), slower cadence is safer. Tell us about your pet and your timeline on the quote form and we'll advise honestly on which pacing is right and what it costs.
Yes. We handle pickup and delivery at Camp Pendleton, Naval Base San Diego, MCAS Miramar, Travis AFB, Fort Irwin, and smaller installations. PAX offers a 10% military discount, no rush fees on last-minute PCS orders, and no date-change fees when orders shift. Base-to-base transcontinental moves (Camp Pendleton to Camp Lejeune, San Diego to Norfolk) are routine for us.
Yes. Flat-faced breeds need different handling than other dogs — tighter temperature controls, altitude-limited routing, more frequent rest stops, and a flat small per-mile brachy surcharge to cover the extra care. If you're moving a Frenchie, Bulldog, or Pug in or out of California, mention the breed on the quote so we assign a driver with brachy experience.
