PAX vs. The Industry Standard
Says 'background checked' — often means a driving record
Claims USDA registration in a paragraph on the site
Brachy breeds are an afterthought or an airline workaround
Drivers are strangers pulled from gig apps
Drivers get little backup on the road
Full criminal background check and driving record review on every driver, plus references and a valid USDA Class T registration
USDA Class T certificate on file and downloadable as a PDF
Brachy protocols built from the ground up — routes planned around heat, altitude, and rest cadence before the trip is booked
Drivers are people we know and have worked with — and every new driver is trained by an existing PAX driver before running a trip alone
A dedicated trip coordinator backs every driver live — weather, routing, vet proximity, rest stops
Our 8-Factor Safety System
Every PAX trip includes all eight safety layers — no upsells, no add-ons.
Climate-controlled cabin maintained within breed-safe range for the entire journey.
At-risk breeds require veterinary clearance before booking is confirmed.
Well-behaved pets ride freely in the cabin. If a crate is needed, we help owners find the perfect fit.
Every driver has a dedicated trip planner backing them with live weather updates, route intel, and rest stop options throughout the journey.
GPS tracking and scheduled wellness check-ins throughout transit.
Nearest emergency vet mapped for every segment of the route.
Red Cross certified drivers with specialized training in brachycephalic, giant breed, and senior animal handling — including medical care for diabetes and kidney failure.
Follow-up check within 24 hours of delivery to confirm your pet is settled.
Ground vs. Air for Brachy Breeds
Most airlines embargo brachycephalic breeds in cargo because compressed airways can't regulate under cabin pressure and temperature swings. Some brokers solve this by sending a flight nanny on a commercial plane with your dog in-cabin. That's a booking hack, not a safety protocol. It still puts a vulnerable breed through pressure changes, stress, and a schedule that can't flex when the weather turns. PAX does the opposite. We build the trip around the pet. Routes get planned around heat, altitude, and rest cadence before we ever accept the booking. If the conditions aren't safe, we postpone. Most brokers don't consider what that kind of planning actually costs — or they charge for it and don't do it. We do it, and we charge honestly for the work.
What We Plan Around
Flat-faced breeds can't regulate temperature the way other dogs can. Here's how we adapt every trip to keep them safe.
We shift driving hours to early morning and evening to avoid peak temperatures. If a route can't avoid dangerous heat windows, we reschedule — no exceptions.
Cold air can irritate already-compromised airways, so we keep vehicles consistently warm, minimize outdoor time at stops, and carry blankets for extra comfort.
Humidity makes it even harder for brachycephalic breeds to breathe. We monitor humidity levels along the route and factor them into every trip plan.

Breed Safety FAQ
Have a question we didn't cover? Reach out to our team.
Brachycephalic breeds — flat-faced dogs like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boston Terriers — have compressed airways that make breathing harder under stress, heat, or altitude changes. This means standard transport conditions that are fine for most breeds can be dangerous for them. PAX builds a breed-specific plan that accounts for these risks before your pet ever enters the vehicle.
No — we specialize in transporting them safely. Unlike airlines that ban many flat-faced breeds entirely, PAX has developed protocols specifically for brachycephalic transport. We require vet pre-screening, maintain strict climate controls, and monitor breathing throughout the trip.
For brachycephalic breeds, we maintain cabin temperature between 65-72°F (18-22°C) year-round, regardless of outside conditions. Our vehicles have dedicated climate control systems, and drivers monitor temperature continuously. If outside conditions exceed our safety thresholds, we will postpone the trip.
For brachycephalic, giant, and senior breeds, yes. We require a veterinary health certificate confirming your pet is fit for travel. This protects your pet and gives our drivers critical health information for the journey. Standard breeds may not require pre-screening but we always recommend it.
Airlines transport pets in pressurized cargo holds with minimal monitoring. PAX provides door-to-door ground transport in a climate-controlled cabin with a dedicated driver who monitors your pet throughout the journey. Your pet is never in cargo, never on a tarmac, and never left unattended.
Our drivers have real-time weather and route data. If conditions change mid-trip — unexpected heat, storms, or road closures — the driver has authority to stop at a safe location, adjust the route, or contact our emergency vet network. Your pet's safety always takes priority over the schedule.
