Michigan is two pretty different states. The Lower Peninsula anchors around Detroit — industrial legacy, automotive HQs, Ann Arbor's university crowd, and Grand Rapids' furniture + healthcare scene. The Upper Peninsula is a completely different world: sparsely populated, weather-dominated, and often easier to reach from Wisconsin than from downstate Michigan. We handle both. Most of our volume is LP metros; we run UP pickups less often but we do them.
Winter is the big variable. Lake-effect snow off Lake Michigan and Lake Superior can drop a foot in hours. The I-75, I-94, and I-96 corridors get monitored in real time November through March. Polar vortex events drop temperatures below -15°F regularly in January and February. We'd rather delay a run by a day than send a driver through whiteout conditions with your pet on board.
Selfridge Air National Guard Base north of Detroit handles Michigan's military guard and reserve traffic. Smaller Army Reserve centers around Lansing and Battle Creek also generate occasional PCS runs.
