Pet Transport To and From Florida

USDA-registered ground pet transport across Florida — Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and every smaller market in between. Built around Florida's realities: year-round heat, snowbird season logistics, and the long I-95 and I-75 corridors that define this market.

Florida is driven by two transport seasons that most of the country doesn't have. From October through April, snowbirds migrate south with their pets — we run dozens of trips from the Northeast and Midwest down to Naples, Sarasota, the Villages, and Fort Myers. From May through September, the migration reverses and the heat becomes the planning constraint. A July afternoon in Orlando at 93°F and 85% humidity is a real risk for any dog, and a dangerous one for brachycephalic breeds.

Long-distance trips in and out of Florida are inherently long. Miami to Boston is 1,500 miles. Tampa to Denver is 2,000. Jacksonville to Portland, Oregon is 3,000. We plan those routes with proper rest cadence, pre-identified vet stops at major exits, and temperature-managed cabins — never rushing to shave a day off the schedule.

Florida also hosts major military installations — MacDill AFB (Tampa, CENTCOM/SOCOM HQ), NAS Jacksonville, NAS Pensacola, Eglin AFB, and Patrick SFB. PAX honors a 10% military discount, no rush fees, and no date-change fees for PCS moves. Base-to-base runs like MacDill → Joint Base Andrews and NAS Jacksonville → NAS Norfolk are regular routes for us.

And Florida is one of the biggest destinations for retiree relocations in the country. A lot of our pickup calls come from adult children coordinating a move for an elderly parent who can no longer drive their pet long distance. We handle those calmly — confirming care details over the phone, keeping the senior pet owner informed along the way, and delivering calmly rather than rushing. If this is your situation, tell us on the quote.

What makes Florida transport different

Year-round heat, summer humidity

Florida's heat index exceeds 100°F on most summer afternoons, and humidity amplifies the risk for any dog. Between May and September we shift Florida pickups and long-haul departures to early morning or overnight, and we require cabin temperature documentation every 2 hours on all Florida summer trips.

Snowbird season (Oct–Apr)

We run the northbound and southbound seasonal migration all season. Book early — the week before Thanksgiving and the first two weeks of April fill up fast. If your timeline is flexible, mid-season is more reliable and often cheaper.

Brachycephalic risk is highest here

Florida's heat and humidity combo is the hardest climate in the country for brachycephalic breeds. We require altitude-limited routing (not a concern crossing FL specifically, but matters on northbound legs), temperature monitoring every hour in summer, and a vet-on-call line for the driver. Flat $0.15/mile brachy surcharge applies.

Senior pet owner support

A significant portion of our Florida pickups involve elderly pet owners who can no longer drive long distance. We coordinate with adult children remotely, confirm care details by phone in advance, and deliver calmly — no tight windows, no surprise pickup times. Tell us on the quote if this applies.

Questions about transport in Florida

How much does pet transport in Florida cost?

Short intrastate hops start at $500 (flat rate up to 42 miles), rising to around $2,000 at 1,000 miles. Interstate trips: Miami → NYC ~$2,050–$3,050, Tampa → Chicago ~$1,850–$2,850, Orlando → Boston ~$2,200–$3,200. Cross-country Miami → LA runs $4,550–$5,550. Those ranges are for standard, healthy adult pets. Brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, Boxers) and pets with medical needs are quoted case-by-case to reflect the extra care and coordination — which matters more in Florida's heat than almost anywhere else. Snowbird-season trips book up fast; quote early.

Do you handle snowbird moves between Florida and the Northeast?

Yes — that's one of our highest-volume seasonal routes. We run south from October through December and north from March through May. If you do this migration every year, ask about flexible scheduling and repeat-customer coordination — we remember your route and your pet.

My elderly parent lives in Florida and can no longer drive their dog back north. Can you help?

Yes. A good portion of our Florida work is exactly this — coordinating pickup with a senior pet owner, keeping them calm and informed, and delivering on the other end to whoever is waiting. Tell us on the quote who we're coordinating with and how they prefer to communicate (phone vs text), and we'll handle the rest.

Is summer transport in Florida safe for my bulldog or pug?

Yes — with the right planning. We shift to overnight or dawn departures from Florida in summer, use altitude-limited routing on the northbound leg, monitor cabin temperature every hour, and keep a vet-on-call line open for the driver. There's a flat $0.15/mile brachycephalic surcharge to cover the extra care. If your trip is in July or August, book with extra lead time to let us optimize the route.

Can you deliver to seasonal rental or gated communities in Florida?

Yes. We handle gated communities, seasonal rentals, and RV park deliveries regularly in Florida. Include the gate code or the contact person for the property in your quote notes. If the community has specific delivery hours or signage rules, tell us upfront.
