Multi-Pet Households

Move Your Whole Crew at One Flat Fee

One PAX fee covers up to 5 pets in the same household — no per-pet upcharges, no per-crate fees. Three dogs and two cats travel together for the same price as one. The whole crew rides in the same private vehicle with the same driver from pickup to delivery.

Why one flat fee

Most pet transporters charge per pet — which makes multi-pet households expensive fast. Three pets through an airline can run $750–$3,000 in airline fees alone, before vet certs, carriers, or the customer's own travel. Broker-style ground services often charge $200–$500 per additional pet on top of base mileage.

PAX charges by distance and route complexity, not by pet count. Up to 5 pets from the same household ride at one quoted price. If you have 6 or more pets, we'll quote a second vehicle case-by-case — usually still less per pet than the alternatives.

How a multi-pet trip works

The mechanics are the same as a single-pet trip — just with more setup at pickup and more attention to in-vehicle layout.

By household type

Multiple dogs

Dogs from the same household usually travel well together because they already know each other's social dynamics. We use crates or harness restraints based on size, age, and your preference. Working dogs and high-drive breeds often do better with a crate (calmer, less stimulation); older dogs and bonded pairs may prefer a shared open-back setup. We confirm during quoting.

Multiple cats

Each cat travels in its own carrier — cats stress less with their own defined space than in a shared one, even with a sibling. We position carriers so they can see each other but aren't forced into contact. Litter access is offered at every stop in a quiet, contained area. Multi-cat households are one of our most common multi-pet bookings.

Mixed dogs and cats

Mixed households need a layout that respects the species' different stress responses. We crate the cats and position them where the dogs can't pace next to them, and we use a barrier or rear-area separation for the dogs. We ask during quoting about specific dynamics — which pets are bonded, which avoid each other, any prior incidents. The driver plans the vehicle layout before pickup.

Behavior + stress management

Multi-pet trips can actually be calmer than single-pet trips because pets self-regulate when their family members are present. The smell, sound, and visual presence of a known companion is a stronger anxiety reducer than anything we can do on our own. Anxious pets do better with their household than alone in a strange vehicle.

That said, not every household travels well together. If two pets have an established conflict (resource guarding, territory issues, post-fight wariness), we'll plan accordingly — separate compartments, sequential bathroom breaks, or in rare cases recommend a second vehicle. Tell us during quoting; we've seen most combinations and will give you a real answer about what works.

What it costs

The quote is built around distance and route — not around pet count, up to 5 pets in one household. A multi-pet booking pays the same as a single-pet booking on the same route. Brachycephalic surcharges (if applicable to any pet) and medical-coverage tiers (if applicable to any pet) are itemized separately. Multi-pet alone doesn't trigger an extra fee.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the flat-fee cap at 5 pets?
5 pets is the practical limit for one vehicle while keeping every pet comfortable. Above that, we typically need a second vehicle (and second driver), and the math changes. For groups of 6+, we quote a second vehicle case-by-case — usually still cheaper per pet than per-pet alternatives.
Can I mix dogs, cats, and small animals in one booking?
Yes, with planning. Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds can all travel together when the layout respects species-specific stress and safety needs. We confirm during quoting and plan carrier placement so prey-drive species are visually separated and contained.
Will the pets stress each other out?
Pets from the same household usually decompress faster traveling together than alone. Each pet has its own defined space (crate, carrier, or harness zone), so they're not forced into contact but can see and smell each other. The familiarity is calming for most households. Exceptions: bonded pairs with known conflict or post-fight wariness — tell us and we adjust.
Do I need to provide carriers and crates?
We bring transport-rated crates and carriers as part of the service. If your pet has a favorite carrier or crate from home, you can use that instead and we'll secure it in the vehicle. Many cats travel better in their own familiar carrier; many dogs prefer ours because they're already conditioned to use the same carrier at home.
How do bathroom breaks work with multiple dogs?
Sequential and individual. The driver walks each dog separately so we don't have a multi-dog leash situation in a rest area. Cats and small animals stay in their carriers during stops; if a litter break is needed, we offer it in a contained, quiet area of the vehicle.
