Los Angeles Service Area
Door-to-door ground pet transport in Los Angeles — from the South Bay to the Valley, from the Westside to the San Gabriel Valley. We route around LA traffic, start cross-country runs before rush hour, and handle summer heat on I-5 and I-10 with brachy-specific protocols.
Los Angeles is one of PAX's core service areas. We run trips out of the LA basin to every major US market — cross-country to New York and Miami, up the coast to Seattle and Portland, and inland to Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake, and Austin. The common denominator is that leaving LA well means leaving at the right hour. We build departure windows around the 405, the 101, and the I-5 south through Irvine — the goal is to be past the worst of the grid before the pet has been in the van for more than an hour.
Summer makes LA technical. Downtown hits 95°F by mid-morning in July and August, and the Inland Empire east of the 15 regularly crosses 105°F. For brachycephalic breeds — French Bulldogs are especially common in LA — we shift departures to dawn, pre-identify vet-accessible exits along the 10 and 5, and run climate-controlled cabins. For long-haul routes east, the San Gabriels and Cajon Pass mean altitude changes, which compounds brachy risk. Those trips are coordinated case-by-case.
Typical price ranges for routes we run most often. Every quote is itemized and personalized — these are starting ballparks.
Ranges shown are for standard, healthy adult pets. Brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, Boxers, etc.) and pets with medical needs are quoted case-by-case to reflect the extra care, monitoring, and coordination those trips require.
Dispatch timing varies by route and season — some pickups go out within a few days, others may take up to a week to line up a driver. Either way, we'll get you a driver for whatever move you need. Tell us your timeline on the quote form and we'll give you a realistic window.
405 north, 101, and I-5 south lock up twice a day. We schedule pickups and cross-country departures to miss both windows — typically pre-dawn out of the Westside and South Bay, or after 8 PM from East LA and the San Gabriel Valley. Drivers know the alternates when CHP closures happen.
LA has one of the highest per-capita concentrations of French Bulldogs in the US, plus significant Pug, Boxer, and English Bulldog populations. Between June and September we move those breeds at dawn, avoid the Inland Empire in the afternoon, and coordinate rest stops at vet-accessible exits.
Late summer and fall can close the 5 through Tejon Pass or the 14 through Angeles National Forest. Our dispatch monitors CalFire incident maps and reroutes in advance — we've run through the 58/395 when Grapevine closed, and through Palmdale when the 14 was cut.
LA means parking constraints. We coordinate elevator reservations in Westside high-rises, gate codes for Beverly Hills and Pacific Palisades, and HOA-compliant loading zones in Playa Vista and Marina del Rey. Your trip coordinator sorts this before pickup day.
Door-to-door pickup and delivery across the metro. This isn't exhaustive — if your address is in the area, we can get there.
Pricing scales with distance, not with specific endpoints. For trips between 0 and 1,000 miles, the total typically runs $400 to $2,000. Between 1,000 and 2,000 miles, typically $2,000 to $3,600. Between 2,000 and 3,000 miles, typically $3,600 to $5,200. Those are ballparks for standard, healthy adult pets. Brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, Boxers) and pets with medical needs are quoted case-by-case. Every quote is itemized and delivered personally, usually within 24 hours.
We're a ground-transport company, not an airline, but we frequently pick up at LAX for clients who flew in and need their pet driven home, and drop off at LAX for international flights where a pet is crossing over. We also coordinate with private jet terminals (VNY, SNA, BUR) when clients need ground-air handoffs. Put the airport in the pickup address and we'll coordinate the meet-up.
Coast-to-coast typically runs 4–5 days at standard cadence, and we also offer express service when it suits the animal. Faster pacing actually reduces stress for some pets — dogs who don't settle well into long trip rhythms, or who handle travel better in shorter concentrated stretches. For others (brachy breeds, seniors, anxious pets), slower cadence is safer. Tell us about your pet and your timeline on the quote form and we'll advise honestly on which pacing is right and what it costs.
Yes, with a modified protocol. Summer pickups for Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, and Boxers shift to dawn departures, climate-controlled cabin, and pre-cleared vet-accessible exits on the route. We route altitude-sensitive breeds around the Cajon Pass and Tejon Pass on long easterly runs when heat stacks with elevation. Mention the breed on the quote form so we assign a driver with brachy experience.
Yes. We coordinate elevator reservations, loading-zone permits, and building-security call-aheads for high-rise apartments in DTLA, Marina del Rey, and Santa Monica. The trip coordinator handles the building-side logistics — you just need to give us the unit number and any specific access instructions.
