San Diego Service Area
Door-to-door ground pet transport across San Diego County — Camp Pendleton to Chula Vista, La Jolla to El Cajon. One of our busiest military-PCS corridors, with 10% military discount, no rush fees, and no date-change penalties.
San Diego is a military town first. Naval Base San Diego, Camp Pendleton (technically north county but same corridor), MCAS Miramar, and Naval Air Station North Island generate more than a quarter of our San Diego volume. PAX honors a 10% military discount, charges nothing for rush pickups tied to PCS orders, and absorbs the cost if orders shift and dates change. Base-to-base moves out of San Diego — Norfolk, Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville FL, JBER Alaska overland to Seattle — are routine for our dispatch.
The other half of San Diego is the cross-border retirement and lifestyle market: Del Mar, La Jolla, Coronado, Rancho Santa Fe. Those clients tend to move east to retirement markets in Arizona, Texas, and Florida, or north to Bay Area and Seattle. I-5 north out of SD locks up around Camp Pendleton twice a day; I-8 east to the desert is a known summer-heat corridor that we time for dawn or late evening departures. For brachycephalic breeds, the Laguna Mountain climb on I-8 east is flagged in our routing system as altitude-sensitive.
Typical price ranges for routes we run most often. Every quote is itemized and personalized — these are starting ballparks.
Ranges shown are for standard, healthy adult pets. Brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, Boxers, etc.) and pets with medical needs are quoted case-by-case to reflect the extra care, monitoring, and coordination those trips require.
Over a quarter of our SD volume is tied to PCS orders — Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard. We pick up at base gates, carry the right paperwork for security clearance, and offer 10% military discount, no rush fees, no date-change penalties. Base-to-base transcontinental runs are our most common SD routes.
I-5 north through Camp Pendleton reliably backs up morning and evening. For long-haul runs north we often leave pre-dawn to get past before the lock-up. For LA regional trips we flex routing via I-15 if I-5 is cooked.
I-8 east toward Yuma crosses the Lagunas (elevation ~4,000 ft) then drops into the Imperial Valley (120°F+ in summer). For brachy breeds or pets with cardiac issues, we time this for overnight or dawn, and rest-stop at In-Ko-Pah for climate check before descending.
Rancho Santa Fe, Fairbanks Ranch, Coronado Shores — gated access is standard. We coordinate gate codes or manned-guard visitor passes in advance. For base pickups we arrive with driver's license and insurance ready, and your coordinator briefs the driver on gate-specific procedures.
Door-to-door pickup and delivery across the metro. This isn't exhaustive — if your address is in the area, we can get there.
SD to LA runs $500–$900. SD to Phoenix is $500–$1,050. SD to Austin is $2,050–$3,050. Cross-country base-to-base (Camp Pendleton to Camp Lejeune, SD to Norfolk) is $4,200–$5,550. Military clients get 10% off before taxes and fees. Brachycephalic breeds and pets with medical needs are quoted case-by-case. Every quote is itemized.
Yes — all of them. We pick up and deliver at base gates with driver's license, insurance, and vehicle paperwork ready. We know the visitor-gate procedures at Pendleton, Miramar, North Island, NBSD, and Fort Irwin. Orders change last-minute — PAX charges no rush fees and no date-change fees for PCS moves.
10% off the total quote before taxes. We ask for a photo of your military ID at quote time — that's it. Discount applies to active duty, reserves, Guard, and retirees. Works on PCS moves, family relocations, and retirement moves.
Yes, with modified protocol. Brachycephalic routes out of SD in summer shift to dawn or overnight departure, avoid I-8 east during the heat of the day, and carry active temperature monitoring in-cabin. Mention the breed on the quote form so we assign a driver with brachy experience and adjust the route accordingly.
We're US-based and primarily work the continental US. Cross-border runs into Mexico require separate permits and documentation we don't routinely carry. If you need Baja transport, talk to us — we can sometimes coordinate a US-side handoff to a partner operator.
