First, Fairchild Air Force Base (KC-135 Stratotanker air refueling) drives constant PCS rotation. We dispatch base-gate pickups with proper paperwork. Second, Gonzaga University and Whitworth University drive academic relocations. Third, the I-90 corridor between Seattle west and Coeur d'Alene / Missoula east makes Spokane a natural pivot.
Operationally Spokane is car-friendly with manageable density. South Hill and the historic neighborhoods have older streets but accessible. Climate is real four-season — cold winters with significant snow, hot dry summers. Lookout Pass on I-90 east (Idaho border) requires winter monitoring. Wildfire smoke in summer can be heavy in eastern Washington — we monitor NIFC. Cross-state runs west to Seattle (285 miles on I-90) are routine but cross Snoqualmie Pass.
