Maryland Service Area
USDA-registered ground pet transport across Maryland. The DC suburbs (Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville, Frederick), Baltimore and the BWI corridor, Annapolis and the Naval Academy, Aberdeen and the Eastern Shore. Joint Base Andrews, Fort Meade, NSA, Aberdeen Proving Ground, and Fort Detrick are routine PAX dispatches.
Maryland is small but extremely dense around the I-95 corridor between Baltimore and DC. Almost every Maryland pickup is in or near a major metro: Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville, Frederick, Columbia, Baltimore proper, Annapolis, and the BWI corridor. The Eastern Shore — Cambridge, Easton, Salisbury, Ocean City — is reachable by the Bay Bridge from Annapolis, and we run that route regularly. Geography is compact enough that intrastate trips are short, but the same density that makes Maryland feel small also creates serious traffic on I-495 (the Beltway), I-95, and I-270 north out of DC.
Military density may be the highest of any state per capita. Joint Base Andrews (presidential air operations) sits in Prince George's County. Fort Meade and the NSA are in Anne Arundel. The U.S. Naval Academy is in Annapolis. Aberdeen Proving Ground (Army research and weapons testing) is northeast of Baltimore. Fort Detrick (biomedical research) is in Frederick. NSWC Indian Head is on the Potomac. PAX dispatches base-gate pickups at all of them — proper paperwork, 10% military discount, no rush fees on PCS orders, no date-change penalties when orders shift.
Climate-wise, Maryland straddles the mid-Atlantic. Summer humidity in Baltimore and the Bay region drives our brachy protocol on every flat-faced trip in or out of the state. Winter is moderate compared to New England but real — nor'easters and ice storms can close I-70 west toward the Appalachian foothills, and we monitor SHA and NWS before any winter dispatch crossing the spine into Western Maryland.
Typical price ranges for routes we run most often. Every quote is itemized and personalized — these are starting ballparks.
Ranges shown are for standard, healthy adult pets. Brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Frenchies, Boxers, etc.) and pets with medical needs are quoted case-by-case to reflect the extra care, monitoring, and coordination those trips require.
Dispatch timing varies by route and season — some pickups go out within a few days, others may take up to a week to line up a driver. Either way, we'll get you a driver for whatever move you need. Tell us your timeline on the quote form and we'll give you a realistic window.
Joint Base Andrews, Fort Meade / NSA, the Naval Academy, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Fort Detrick, NSWC Indian Head — all in our regular service area. We know visitor-control procedures and gate-specific commercial-vehicle rules at each. 10% military discount, no rush fees, no date-change penalties.
I-495 (the Capital Beltway), I-95 between Baltimore and DC, and I-270 north out of DC are punishing at peak hours. We time pickups in Bethesda, Rockville, Silver Spring, and the BWI corridor to leave before 6am or after 8pm on weekdays. Weekend windows are handled separately.
Cambridge, Easton, Salisbury, Ocean City, and the rest of the Eastern Shore are reached via the William Preston Lane Memorial Bridge from Annapolis. Summer Friday-Sunday traffic on the bridge is routinely 2-3 hours; we plan Eastern Shore pickups for off-peak windows or use ferries when warranted.
I-70 west toward Hagerstown and Cumberland climbs into the Appalachian foothills. Nor'easters and ice storms can close the route in winter; we monitor SHA and NWS before any dispatch crossing west, and flex without penalty when conditions force it.
We pick up and deliver door-to-door throughout the state. These are just the metros where we run the most trips.
Deeper coverage for key metros — local traffic, neighborhoods, military bases, and route specifics.
Pricing scales with distance, not with specific endpoints. For trips between 0 and 1,000 miles, the total typically runs $500 to $2,000. Between 1,000 and 2,000 miles, typically $2,000 to $3,800. Between 2,000 and 3,000 miles, typically $3,800 to $5,600. Brachycephalic breeds and pets with medical needs are quoted case-by-case. Military clients get 10% off. Every quote is itemized — we send a personalized breakdown usually within two hours.
Yes to all four — and to Fort Detrick, NSWC Indian Head, NSA, and the Coast Guard Yard at Curtis Bay. We dispatch base-gate pickups with proper paperwork, honor a 10% military discount, charge no rush fees on last-minute PCS orders, and waive date-change fees when orders shift. Base-to-base transcontinental moves out of Andrews and Meade are routine for us.
We don't fight peak hours. Pickups in Bethesda, Rockville, Silver Spring, and the BWI corridor time to leave before 6am or after 8pm on weekdays. Weekend windows get handled differently. For trips heading north on I-95 we plan rest stops at vet-accessible exits north of Baltimore rather than trying to hold a tight schedule through the worst stretches.
Yes. We pick up and deliver throughout the Eastern Shore via the Bay Bridge from Annapolis. Summer weekend traffic on the bridge is brutal — Friday–Sunday delays of 2–3 hours are routine — so we plan Eastern Shore pickups for off-peak windows whenever possible. Tell us your address on the quote and we'll plan the bridge crossing.
It's a real factor for brachycephalic breeds — French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers — and for pets with respiratory or cardiac conditions. July-August heat-index days regularly break 100°F with high dew points. Brachy and medical-case Maryland trips run on overnight or dawn departures with climate-controlled cabins. Mention the breed and any health notes on the quote and we'll plan accordingly.
